Marsanne Rousanne Viognier / Barossa / SouthAustralia
Behind every great winemaker is a great winemaker's wife. Robert recounts how he finally gave in to Mrs Duval's pleas and created his first white wine. An artisan may spend decades refining his skills but a woman's intuition rules. Duval's Rhone styled cepage of Marsanne, Rousanne and Viognier has been a runaway success. Duval's aim with Plexus MRV is to promote a vibrant expression of fruit aromas from the interaction of the three varieties, to build structure and texture on the palate, rather than the blend's familiar acid crispness.

Riesling / Eden Barossa / SouthAustralia
The Angas family share a long tradition of viticulture with the craggy chills on the elevated high country of Valley Eden. Colin Angas established Riesling vines to a gently sloping site in the 1960s. Two distinct sections, the top of slope is leaner and more exposed, making tightly structured wines of crisp, vibrant acidity. Vines further down are planted to vigorous red soils, yielding plumper bunches of fruit, redolent of fresh aromatics and citrus zing. Lime cordial, calico and talc, a dash of minerality, refreshing acidity and a lengthy, textured chalky dry finish.

Riesling / Barossa / SouthAustralia
The Eden Valley delineation of Barossa is renowned for producing Australia's finest Riesling, as the cooler climate and higher rainfall, provide ideal conditions for the Riesling grape. Grapes are sourced mainly from thirty year old vines grown to the Thorn Family property and two other superior Eden Valley blocks. Clean, fresh citrus characters feature prominently on the palate, all perfectly balanced with a natural acidity and linear minerality on the long, lingering finish.

Frontignac / Barossa / SouthAustralia
Lily Farm is the vineyard in front of Grant's house near Tanunda, planted to vine some thirty years ago. Frontignanc is unique amongst varietals in that the wine actually tastes and smells of ripe, luscious grapes. Kerner / Barossa / SouthAustralia
Graeme and Michael Fechner brought back cuttings of the Weißer Herold grape, also known as Kerner, to their Eden Valley vineyard, following a research trip to Germany in 2001. The vines bloomed and found a new home away from home, where the felicitious, long calm ripening seasons encourage the grapes to form lusciously sweet fruit esters, redolent of all the tropical muscat characters which define the dulcet delicacy of the delightful Kerner. Grapefruits, lychee and applejack, an excellent choice of chilled Mosel style white to accompany dressed birds, savoury bakes and desserts.

The eminent Fechner brothers block at Moculta is fortuitously mineral rich, gently strewn with marble and chalk shards for the infusement of grapes with lively lychee and fragrant florals. Its marvelously poised and elegant structure, lustrous with minerality and lingering with honeysuckle hazel delights.

Chardonnay / Barossa / SouthAustralia
Barossa makes a gentler style of Chardonnay. The Schrapel family had the foresight to sow Chardonnay vines long ago, the quality of fruit that grows from these old plantings is now outstanding. A fortnight of ferment is followed by two months of lees stirring battonage on sedimentery lees. Grapefruit, apples and pears to the bouquet, the palate flows with delicate flavours, bakery and butternut, golden apple, peaches and quince. Like all great Chardonnay, Bethany affords the opportunity to experience a growing complexity of remarkable richness as the wine breathes and continues to evolve.
